Management Development

New Directions designs and delivers executive and management development and supervisory training programmes for all sizes of organisations, from core communication skills in multi-national companies to management development activities for complete management teams in SMEs and not-for-profit organisations. New Directions starts by researching your needs and the needs of the target group (often working in conjunction with corporate change and culture programmes), and then designing workshops and events that utilise well researched and practical models, exercises and case studies; developing new exercises and activities to simulate the real working environment where necessary. We follow a learner centred approach in all of our designs.

Cross cultural awareness and application
We focus on communication skills in the context of the diversity of cultural difference, whether that difference is due to nationality, language, race, gender, age, religion, profession, function, or any of the other potential differences that exist. We also work in the area of understanding and changing organisation culture using models developed ourselves from initial research by Roger Harrison and Charles Handy.

Over the past twenty years we have worked in, and with people from Africa, North and South America, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, and Western, Central and Eastern Europe. Our consultants live in these regions and can work in eight languages—English, French, Dutch, German, Spanish, Italian, Swedish and Danish.

Our consultant network have written several books and articles, and have developed exercises and interactive games on the subject of diversity and cross cultural communication.

New Approaches to Strategic Planning
The workshop investigates why most strategies fail and looks at the new agenda for organisations: Stakeholders, inclusivity, knowledge management, organisation learning, scenario thinking, rapid and continuous change. Learn how to use methods for this new environment: influencing and creating your own future, enter into dialogue to appreciating what works; and explore processes for creating commitment and conducting strategic planning in large groups (Future Search Conferences, Open Space Conferences, Real Time Strategic Change) through participation and case studies.

This workshop lends itself to in-house application where the management team responsible for strategic planning can work together through the medium of the workshop to investigate and develop methodologies for its own strategy development.
